Optical Tools for Industry is a small firm with a long reach. Over three decades, the firm has built up an impressive reputation in the highly specialist field of manufacturing and designing optical test equipment and now sells its measurement and inspection solutions as far afield as China and the USA. |
The Ruthin, Denbighshire-based company, which was founded in 1975, was the subject of a management buy-out in 2005, which led to the start of its relationship with Gareth Hughes & Co.
John Meelan, one of the team of three that now make up the company, explains: “We didn’t want to carry on using the company’s accountant from prior to the buy-out. I knew Gareth Hughes and he was also recommended to us by another company in the engineering sector who was using him.”
Now Gareth and his team provide a range of services to Optical Tools for Industry, including payroll, production of year-end accounts and preparation of tax returns while John also values being able to pick up the phone to Gareth for general advice as and when it is needed.
He says: “It might be something to do with cost savings within the business that emerge from the accounts but I have also asked for guidance on things away from normal accountancy issues, like tax relief on company cars. I would say we have a very good working relationship with Gareth Hughes & Co.”
