Gareth Hughes Welcomes Local Girl Back Home
Conwy-based chartered accountants Gareth Hughes and Co have recently welcomed a new face to their team. Rachel Brown joined the firm as client manager, after moving back to North Wales from Devon.
Rachel grew up in Llandudno, before moving to Devon when she was 20. Rachel joined a top 50 accountancy firm Bishop Fleming, and was initially responsible for payroll production while she began her AAT training. She qualified as an AAT member in 2001, by which time she had moved to work as an accountant within the firm’s Accounts/Tax department.
Rachel began her ACCA training before leaving to have her two children. Her grandmother saw an advert for the role at Gareth Hughes and Co in a local newspaper. Rachel and her husband had decided to move back to North Wales to be closer to their parents. They believed that the children were missing out on their grandparents, as they didn’t get home to visit much because of work commitments. They decided to move before their son, now three, started school.
Rachel will take care of her own client portfolio at Gareth Hughes and Co, responsible for smaller clients and new businesses, including sole traders and partnerships. She plans to complete her ACCA final exams next year.
Managing partner Gareth Hughes comments: “We are delighted to welcome Rachel to the firm. Being a local girl originally, Rachel naturally fits right in, and has begun to build a fantastic rapport with her clients.”
