Gareth Hughes & Co Sponsor School Award
Young entrepreneurs at a Colwyn Bay high school have been vying over an exciting new business award, sponsored by local Llandudno Junction-based chartered accountants Gareth Hughes & Co.
The Sixth Form Business Studies Award was presented to Emma Curran by Marcus Wilkes, a director at Gareth Hughes & Co.
Emma is studying for exams including her A2 level in Business Studies at Eirias High School, under the tutelage of David Jones, Head of Faculty. The award follows Emma’s achievement at AS level last year, when she obtained a grade ‘A’ in Business Studies, and recognises her individual contribution to the subject since.
“Emma was thrilled to receive the award, “said Marcus. “She is an intelligent and ambitious young lady who is hoping for an equally bright future in business. We will be watching her as she progresses and wish her well in her future endeavours.”
Emma is hoping to go to Lancaster University to read Psychology and would eventually like to gain a doctorate in this subject.
It is the first award of this kind Gareth Hughes & Co have sponsored – something Marcus is keen to see repeated in the coming years. He said: “We are delighted to have forged a good relationship with Eirias High. We have always been committed to serving our local business community and we feel the time is right to extend our support to the young people in our local schools. Now more than ever, we feel we should be encouraging new talent into an industry that needs their input.”
Gareth Hughes & Co hope to provide work experience placements for Eirias High pupils in the future.
