Accountant Biker Runs Marathon In Leathers

North Wales based accountancy firm Gareth Hughes and Co is congratulating one of their trainees on his success at this year’s London Marathon in April. The race was a double challenge for trainee accountant Mike Taylor however, as he decided to swap his running shorts for a full set of biker’s leathers. Mike decided to run the marathon in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, with the aim of raising as much money as possible for them. Mike is a biker currently without a bike. “I had the leathers anyway,” says Mike, “so I decided to wear them for the race to get as many donations as possible. |
Mike took it easy with plenty of water, and was relieved when it began to rain at around 20 miles. “A lot of people suffered from cold at that point, but I was fine,” says Mike.
Mike had run a marathon before, taking part in the Snowdonia marathon 8 years ago. It was his first time running the London marathon, however, which he completed in 5 hours, 42 minutes and 18 seconds. His target was 6 hours.
Gareth Hughes, managing partner at Gareth Hughes and Co adds: “We are all delighted for Mike, and extremely proud of his achievement. To complete the marathon at all is a huge accomplishment, not to mention in heavy, hot leathers and in such a good time.”
Mike has raised over £2000 so far, with donations still trickling in. It’s not too late to donate by visiting Mike’s Just Giving site at www.justgiving.com/mike3legs.
