Gareth Hughes has a quarter century of experience in accountancy, which began when he trained in Birmingham with a predecessor firm of leading accountancy practice Deloitte, after gaining a degree in economic and social history at the University of Birmingham. He returned to Wales in 1989, where he continued his training and developed expertise in all aspects of tax planning, including capital gains tax, inheritance tax and the interaction of UK and foreign taxes, VAT transaction-based planning and the auditing of limited companies and solicitors’ client accounts. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1990. |
Gareth specialises in working with caravan parks, engineering businesses and residential property businesses and is experienced in advising all types of owner-managed businesses, on issues including tax-efficient profit extraction, business management – including cost management, pricing and staff matters – and succession planning.
He also advises start-up businesses and on the practical aspects of buying and selling businesses, as well as the most tax-efficient way of doing so. Gareth also deals with all aspects of HM Revenue & Customs enquiries for his clients.
